what I'm doing now

it's the end of the baseball season, but now winter is here. Spending much more time indoors, reading and with my family.

Programming

I spend the majority of my time in Python, Django, and Postgres - a stack I love and don't see changing anytime soon. Lately, I have been spending more time with Polars building baseball analytics and forecasting models which has been a lot of fun.

I've also been working with Go for over two months on my baseball project. I love the mental shift of working with types again, and it's pushing me to reshape how I write software. I feel productive and am enjoying working with it.

Baseball And Data Analytics

Outside my business and family, this is where I spend the majority of my time and I love it. I've come to love Polars, and have built some pretty powerful and robust data pipelines to manage a centuries worth of baseball data.

My models are a work in progress but have come a long way in the last year. I'm looking forward to sharing more about them as they mature.

Media Consumption

The age of distraction is real and I don't want to be a part of it anymore. I've struggled with my initial social media detox and have fallen back into many of my old habits. I've recently read Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport and am using his framework to reshape my relationship with technology.

I’m determined to make it work in order to read more, use my leisure time intentionally, make deliberate decisions, and think with a clear, calm mind.
